HISTORY
The tradition of the merchant family Mühlmeier goes back to the 17th century. In the family tree – nearly at the roots – one can find Philipp Mühlmayer, * 8.4.1678 + 13.5.1757. As builder he built churches and chapels in Bavaria and Austria. Till today the buildings and the one or the other street named after him remind to him.
Josef Mühlmeier, * 8.11.1843 + 4.9.1919 was working as „tool maker and bookseller“
Alwin H.J. Mühlmeier laid the foundation stone of the company Mühlmeier, as it exists today, in October 1949 with the trade licence for „trade with raw materials“ for the button industry that was residing in Bärnau. In a time where buttons still were produced of natural materials like Mother of Pearls or horn, he imported these raw materials from Eastern Europe, the South Sea and Latin America.
Our good business relations were the base – especially in Eastern Europe – for a lot of additional products which we took in our delivery program and enlarged later to an own assortment. The single product groups are worked in independent profit centres. This proves the special competence to our clients.
In 1994 the company was restructured basicly. Hereby the assortment for the textile industry was integrated in the „Mühlmeier Enorm-Form GmbH & Co. KG“ that was found only for this. The technical product program belonged now to the company „Mühlmeier GmbH & Co. KG“.
Today the company is composed of three independent departments: Composites, welding technics, grinding technics.
